Play to the Crowd take part in Winchester Half Marathon

Our Chief Executive Deryck Newland and Digital Marketing Manager Luigi Marinelli took part in the Winchester Half Marathon yesterday – despite the rain - to raise awareness and funds for Play to the Crowd!

They signed up for the 13-mile event earlier this year and were excited to join the 2,000 other runners at the start line, in front of Winchester Guildhall, ready to take on the notoriously hilly course that takes in well-known landmarks such as Winchester Cathedral and King Alfred’s statue, before reaching the surrounding countryside and returning to the city centre and the long-awaited finish line.

With heavy showers reported, Deryck and Luigi hoped that Winchester residents, business owners, visitors to the city, supporters of the charity and staff would come out to cheer them on – and they weren’t disappointed, saying the crowds motivated them to keep going.

Deryck finished first, but he and Luigi are equally pleased with their achievements – and we couldn’t be happier for them. There’s still time to sponsor them at justgiving.com/campaign/playtothecrowd

Many thanks for your support.
