Cheers Volunteers!

We want to say thank you to all our volunteers who help us run our beloved theatre and Outdoor Arts festival, and our wide range of family and community activities. We couldn't do it without you!

This week is National Volunteers Week (01 - 07 June) so we thought we'd take this opportunity to acknowledge all those who are always there with a smile on their faces and able to lend a hand.

We are so grateful to the ushers who check your tickets and guide you to your seats at Theatre Royal Winchester; the happy people with tired feet who help you find your way around the city over Hat Fair weekend - so that you don't miss one of the brilliant and funny acts; and all those who know just what you need at any one of our other inspired events.

The Covid-19 pandemic has also meant we have had to learn new ways of working to protect ourselves and audiences, so we thank our volunteers for taking on measures and acting safely and responsibly.

Thank you, you are the best!

I have been volunteering as an usher at the Theatre Royal for 20 years. I like to be busy and useful. I like to share the skills I have (I’m very much a ‘people person’) and every activity I do introduces me to new skills, people and experiences. I enjoy trying to enrich the theatre-goers’ experience. There’s a great team of people at the theatre, which makes it all worthwhile.

Elaine Howells, Volunteer at Theatre Royal Winchester

We are always looking for more people to help us, so if you'd like a unique experience, to learn new skills, and meet people you might not otherwise in life, find out more about our volunteering opportunities.

Finally - while we have your attention - we are still looking for volunteers for this year's Hat Fair, from Friday 02 - Sunday 04 July.

We need people to help us set up the event, raise money, and assist audience members.

All you need to be is aged 18 and over, friendly and responsible.

In return you'll gain valuable festival experience; meet new people and artists from around the world; we will also provide meals and snacks to keep you going over the busy weekend.
